Ok, we have a 1998 Doo GTX LTD that will run like a scalded ape for
about 3/4 ths of a mile on open water and then just shuts down like
the lanyards been pulled. About every shop we've talked with thinks
it's the pressure needle valves(pop-off) sticking in the carbs. What
baffles me,and I've had quit a little experience with other types of
carbs that use these fuel pumps and pop valves, "and I may not be the
sharpest stick in the woods", is how they can be sticking with it
running so well and not hesitating or acting funny in any way, then
completely stalling deader than a "creek rock",witout any warning, and
then, will start back up again instantly and run another twenty to
thirty feet before quiting again. Then the whole cycle starts again
provided there is enough battery to keep starting it again and again.
We have rebuilt the fuel pump on the lead carb and inspected the
filter in the carb ( not enough debris to worry about in it, just a
couple of small specks. We have replaced the filter in the fuel tank
and the filter under the front hood cowling also. We were told it mite
be the fuel shut-off/reserve and have checked that out also and found
no restrictions in the fuel sytem at all. Anyone had this problem
??????
We have also been told that it may be an electrical problem and that
SeaDoo had a call-back concerning something like this, but, haven't
been able to find the info on this at any of the sources we have
available
Mike.
